Papers, 1852-1988.

This collection contains correspondence, clippings, and printed material pertaining mostly to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and U.S. involvement in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam Conflict. These materials reveal Woolard's opposition to the policies of the U.S. Government in relation to Vietnam, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, as well as his feelings on disarmament. Correspondents include government agencies, Vietnamese friends and Woolard's sister, Mrs. S.A. Helms of Greensboro, N.C.A number of Woolard's letters to his sister were written shortly after Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. Most of these letters, however, are of a personal nature, due to the censorship of information about military engagements. Woolard gathered much of the material on Pearl Harbor with the intent of writing a book on the attack. The collection also includes two posters depicting the opposition of the American Friends Service Committee to continued U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, and a telegram from Ho Chi Minh sent to Woolard in response to his sending him a copy of the play MCBIRD in 1967. The smallest portion of the collection is comprised of biographical and genealogical materials, such as the marriage certificate (copy) of Frazier T. Woolard and J.M. Skittletharpe, August 30, 1905, and a copy of the birth certificate of Frazier T. Woolard, Jr, among other items.
